forever grateful

As I get closer to my due date, I find myself in awe of my two little sweethearts, Eva and Zoe.  I’m so proud of them, and simply can’t get enough of their playful and fun attitude.  It is with immense gratitude that I look back on their own entry into this world and remember how difficult those times were when they were in the NICU, while we waited for what seemed an eternity before they joined us at home.

This pregnancy is so different than the last.  In a way, it’s much more challenging, since I don’t have the luxury of laying around all day in a quiet home while I’m pregnant.  Now, I’m working full time and come home to two happily ecstatic little girls who can’t seem to unglue themselves from me wherever I sit.  They love me to death, and I believe that is a testament to all the love we’ve given them since even before they were born.  Every day is easier with them, as they grow more independent and learn more about daily tasks.

This new baby we’re waiting on will be just as loved, and even so much more, because it will have two big sisters who will adore it and smother it with kisses and tenderness.  So many people ask us how we do it and are amazed we’re adding another baby into the mix.  We don’t have a secret, just lots and lots of patience and love to go around.  Everything we do is with gratitude and love for our girls and each other, and we will continue to do so with the new baby.

Our family is blessed, to say the least.  We have faced so many challenges during the past few years, from being impacted by corporate lay-offs, to having to move cross-country to pursue job opportunities; and we are sure there will be more to come.

We are looking forward to meeting our new little one, and are looking forward to how much easier it will be care for a newborn this time around.  This time, it’s only one little baby, and we get to bring it home with us right away, and we are both going to be home together during its first three months home.  Last time around, we waited two months before Eva and Zoe came, then I stayed home alone with them while Victor worked full time, and we were both on night watch every night because we had two babies to care for.  Another factor in our favor is we have two little anxious helpers around this time.  Eva and Zoe are very helpful around the house, and we just know they will take their role as big sisters very seriously.

{I hope you enjoy these sweet family photos.  Oh, how our life has changed over the last two years.}

Making room for baby…

Sunshine Inspired Nursery
{by Haute Decor Designs}

I’ve been spending the last few weeks nesting and getting our home ready for our little one, who will arrive any day now.  We are super excited, despite not knowing the gender!  I wanted to create a soothing space for the baby, with subtle pops of bright color, so we settled on a soft gray wall color with pops of yellow for the room.  I stumbled upon these cute art prints on Etsy some time ago, which led me to think of Sunshine as inspiration for the room.

We’ve been spending a lot of time putting together furniture and getting shelves up in the room, and it’s almost ready for the baby.  I’m looking forward to sharing photos of the finished room soon, but for now I hope you enjoy this inspiration board which is somewhat of a sneak peek.

Spring is in the air…

These days, I’m drawn to all things pastel and longing for a home filled with fresh cut flowers.

Spring is a time for new beginnings, fresh starts, and rejuvenation.  Many of us celebrate Easter, which is a great reminder of all things Spring.  This year is special for me, as I await the birth of our third child this Spring.  I am carefully preparing our home for the arrival of our little one, and am inspired by so much these days, as I try to bring feelings of warmth and joy into our home.

I’ve been collecting a series of inspirational photos via my Pinterest account, which I’d like to share with you here.  I hope these inspire you to embrace Spring, and invite you to share your own thoughts on Spring with me.

You are my Sunshine

‘You are my Sunshine’ baby shower {by Haute Decor Designs}

Here is a design board featuring pictures from my Baby Shower, themed ‘You are my Sunshine’.  The custom prints were ordered from Etsy.com, and will be used in the nursery I’m currently decorating for our little one due this April.  I styled the baby shower to mirror the nursery design — neutral gray paired with sunny yellow and bright turqouise.  Stay tuned for photos of the finished nursery….

Vintage Chic Wedding – Where the Ocean meets the Sand

Tiffany Blue Wedding Inspiration
Wedding Inspiration by Haute Decor Designs

Here is the design board I created for my sister’s wedding, who’s still in full wedding planning mode.  The idea is to keep it simple, yet elegant at the same time.  I love her choice of light blue paired with a soft neutral (beige) for her color palette.  It is truly chic and understated.

One budget-worthy idea I include in this design is setting up single bloom flowers in small glasses or jars, set on mirrors with glowing tea lights.  You can recreate this at your own event by buying small inexpensive mirrors and tea lights at somewhere like Ikea, and amass a collection of similar-colored glasses from local thrift shops.  Then, just stop by the local florist to pick up your selection of single bloom flowers the night before your big event.  Go with what’s in season to save money.

Hope you enjoy my board and tips.
